You must not evade our authentication and security, or that of any other ISP or network (i.e. "hacking"), nor interfere with the service to any other Micronicos Limited user, nor interfere with the services of any other ISP or network. You shall not port-scan our, or anyone else’s, network without our prior permission. You must not attempt to hack, sabotage or disrupt our, or anyone else's network by any means including DoS and SMURF attacks. When you use our services to connect to someone else's network, you should be aware that you may be subject to their rules as well as those of Micronicos Limited. In the event of conflict please contact Micronicos Limited directly. You will take all reasonable steps to prevent unauthorised use of your account, including keeping your password secure and protecting your PC(s) from unauthorised access. You may allow others to use your account with your permission at any time, however you accept responsibility for that person´s actions. CONTENT & MAIL: You must not make generally available (especially via usenet or your Web site): Mailing lists - except where those on the mailing list have given their explicit permission; Software for spamming; Personal data on others, except where they have given their explicit permission. You shall not run an open mail relay. This is IMPORTANT! You shall not spam under any circumstances. We think the term is clear, meaning ’multiple unsolicited emails’, however, if you are in doubt regarding whether a mailing is to be considered ’spam’, please contact us to discuss before sending the emails. You shall not purposefully ’mail bomb’ any user by sending 10 or more similar messages to any user without permission from that user. Similarly you shall not ’news-bomb’ any news group by sending more than 10MB of data to any newsgroup or conference unless you have permission from the moderators of that newsgroup or conference, or Micronicos Limited. You shall not manipulate your email address so that it appears to come from an email address of another user. You shall comply with the Data Protection Act 1998 at all times. You acknowledge that we will be unable to provide the service if users purposefully overload the system. You shall avoid doing any acts likely to result in a severe degradation of the services. If we provide you with internet mail including POP3, IMAP4 and/or SMTP push, & you use our free dialup service MailAid, you shall ensure you can accept mail to postmaster@mailaid.co.uk. If you have a domain registered through us you shall ensure you can also accept mail to postmaster@'yourdomain'. We reserve the right to remove material from conferencing, news and Web servers for: - Maintenance of our services; - Infringement of this Acceptable Use Policy; - Receipt of any allegation of defamation, copyright or other intellectual property right infringement by any third party. We may vary this AUP from time to time. SPAM & UNSOLICITED COMMERCIAL EMAILS: You are only allowed to email people who have specifically asked to be contacted by you. This is called ’opt-in’. Emailing people who have NOT specifically requested your information or mailing list is called SPAM or UCE (Unsolicited Commercial Email). If we receive a complaint that one of our customers is SPAMming or engaging in UCE - this contravenes our AUP & Terms & Conditions and we will issue one warning only. [Complaints may be made to abuse@supermail.co.uk]. After one warning - we reserve the right to terminate withour refund any customer who contravenes our proscription against SPAM &/or Unsolicited Commercial Email. BULK MAILING: Using our servers to generate bulk emails is limited to lists of 500 email addresses or less & the above 'opt-in' restrictions apply. This is because bulk email traffic can cause mail service problems for other customers & impinge negatively on our mail delivery. You can apply for formal permission for lists larger than 500 email addresses - email support@supermail.co.uk. We reserve the right to refuse or withdraw permission at any time. Any customer causing problems by bulk emailing will have their services suspended without warning. CONFERENCING/CHAT: You shall not copy any message or file posted in a closed, or closed confidential conference without the author’s permission. Conferences are run in the first instance by the moderators. If you have any dispute you shall in the first instance apply to the moderator of that conference, however if you are not satisfied with their response, or do not wish to delay, you may contact us direct on terms@supermail.co.uk. We reserve the right to overrule any decision made by the moderators of any conference. BANNED SCRIPTS: All insecure scripts are banned by default, especially all versions of formmail.cgi or formmail.pl EXCEPT the PowerTools versions integrated with SuperMaiL, as these can be used by spammers to send out bulk email via our mailservers. We scan for insecure scripts & any formmail script will be automatically & permanently disabled without notification. Our free 'genmail.cgi' OR PowerTools should be used in place of insecure mailing scripts & is available (included in our CGI upgrade option).
